How to read Korean skincare labels
Most Korean skincare boxes repeat the same 30 words. Learn these and you can tell a soothing toner from a brightening ampoule without a translation app.

Three words that matter most
기능성 화장품 means the product is registered with Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for a specific claim, such as brightening, wrinkle care or UV protection. The claim is printed right next to it. 전성분 is the full ingredient list, ordered by amount. 사용기한 or 개봉 후 tells you how long it keeps, often as a number of months after opening.
